Promises Promises
From the Old Testament to the New Testament, those who chose to worship and live for God, had to learn how to have faith in Him. Especially if He divinely revealed Himself to them. Abram had divine revelations from God. Abrams first encounter with God, was when He spoke to Him and told him to get out of his country and leave his family and go to a land that that He would show Him. “Genesis 12 : 1-2)
Again, God divinely revealed Himself to Abram when he was ninety nine years old. God appeared to him and divinely revealed Himself through His name; which also revealed God’s nature/character.
“ I am El Shaddai (God almighty). Walk in my presence and be pure-hearted.” ( Genesis 17 :1) Abram had now established a relationship with God, and would listen, as God divinely revealed Himself to Him. In Genesis 15, “the word of Adonai (God) came to Abram in a vision. In divine revelation, Abram had a discussion with God about being childless. He did not have an heir. God assured Abram, that his servant Eliezer would not be his heir. Abram was going to have a child from his own body. (Genesis 15: 1-4)
God then uses nature as a divine revelation. He brought Abram outside and told him to look up at the sky and count the stars – if he could count them! God then made another promise to Abram.
Genesis 15: 6 states “And he (Abram) believed in the Lord (Adonai), and he accounted it (credited it) to Him for righteousness.” Abram was not saved because of righteous living or obedience. Abram was saved by faith because he believed in God. God then made a covenant with Abram, to let him understand that He was going to keep His promises. (Genesis 15 :7-18) It was a long time, after God had made His promises to Abram. So long, that Sarai (without knowledge of the promises God had made with her husband,) decided to hurry things along, by giving her Egyptian maidservant to Abram, to be his wife. She later regretted her impatience.(Genesis 16) On more than one occasion, God informed Abram, that He would make Him a father of many nations. Abram heard God tell Him about the promises he had in store for him. Firstly, El Shaddai changed his name of Abram which means “Exalted Father”, to Abraham meaning “father of many.”(Genesis 17: 1- 5) God also changed Abrahams wife’s name Sarai which means “mockery” to Sarah which means “princess.”
The Lord revealed Himself to Sarah by ‘visiting her,’ as He had spoken. Sarah finally conceived and bore Abraham a son, in his old age.’

Do you still have Faith that God will fulfil those promises for you? What evidence do you have that
