The Pathology of Complaining

At some point in their life, a person may have had to go and see a doctor because he/she were feeling unwell.

Sometimes, the doctor has had to order a pathology test to be done. Such tests would require a sample of body tissue, cells, or fluids to be taken and sent to a particular laboratory to be analysed.

The outcome would help with the diagnosis and what is required to help alleviate the problem or heal the person. For example, the smell of pear drops from a urine sample is one indicator that the person has diabetes. Further blood tests can confirm this.

Israel, the nation chosen by God, had a pathological problem. They frequently complained and murmured. They complained about being slaves to the Egyptians. (Exodus 2:23; Exodus 6:5) God heard them and decided to help them. He prepared and sent Moses to speak to Pharoah and demonstrate His Almighty power to the Egyptians and the Israelites.

But Israel's complaining did not stop there.

When God rescued them, they complained about being in the wilderness. They complained about their freedom and lives. They complained about the lack of food. They complained about being thirsty. They complained and murmured so much that God became angry with them. (Psalm 78) With that, God punished Israel for their murmuring and complaining. He caused physical ailments to affect them. Even to the point of death.

There are a number of symptoms that manifest in the human mind, body, and soul because of murmuring and complaining. For example, stress can raise a person's blood pressure; which can cause pain such as a headache, or stomach problems, or even a nose bleed. The person may be stressed out because things are not going the way he or she would like it to go. God doesn't want us to live that way. So we are encouraged to pray, make a petition with thanksgiving; and not be anxious about anything . (Philippians 4: 6-7) The end results will be that we will have the peace of God that will transcend all understanding, as well as guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. During your prayer and fasting time, see if you can find other scriptures that will help to safe - guard our mind, body, and soul from murmuring and complaining.

Bible verse: Romans 8 : 28 " And we know that all things!work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
