Love One Another
It can be said that to love people who don't look, behave, or dress like ourselves can be rather difficult. An American psychologist (Abraham Maslow) states that 'love and belonging' is the third level of his pyramid of human needs. We all like to feel loved, wanted, and connected. If we don't receive love, it can cause an adverse effect on our lives, whatever age we are!
As God is love, He and Jesus demonstrate that agape love to everybody they came (and still come) in contact with.
He commands His followers to also love One Another. Everything Jesus saw God do in Heaven, he came and did whilst on earth. Just like children who do as mummy or daddy does, from watching and listening.
John 15 : 9 - 12 Jesus asks us to continue in His love. This can only happen if we keep Jesus' commandments. One of those commandments is that we love each other as He loves us. Twice Jesus commands us to do this! (John 15:12 and 17) I think Jesus is letting us know just how important it is for us to do this!
During your prayer and fasting this week, ask Jesus to help us to love those who hate us, and those who are different from us. Ask you to help you to demonstrate His life to the type of people just stated.
E.g, by showing kindness to those you would not give much attention to. By forgiving people who have caused offense and by showing mercy to those who hate. Once you have felt the love of Jesus, you won't want to do anything else!
