Three In One

There came a moment in time, that God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit; (aka the Holy Trinity) via God’s idea, created ‘man.’ (human beings) Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Who is “Us” and “Our”? Well, they were not the angles. They were (and remains so) God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirt. The Holy Trinity is God-identical, but Person-distinct.” (Rea 2003,432) They are three different persons who share the same ‘essence.’ All three is God, in His completeness.

Jesus is sometimes referred to as God’s only begotten Son; although there are people and certain religions who say He could not be, because God doesn’t have a wife. Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, because He was born of a mortal mother (Mary) and an immortal father, God the Father. Thus, Jesus inherited His divine powers from God.

Just before Jesus returned to His Heavenly home, He informed His disciples of His near departure. Not only did Peter want to go with Jesus, but Thomas was told how to go, where Jesus was going; - back to His Father. (John 14 1 – 7) In the same chapter, Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father.

Jesus’ life on earth was totally dedicated to God. Not only that, His character and damiana made Him look like, sound like and live like God! On the earth. “Jesus gave them an answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” John 5:9 Whilst on earth, Jesus did everything that was prophesied about Him, thousands of years prior. Infact the first known prophecy about Him can be found in Genesis 3:15. Scholars have concluded that there are 55 prophecies in the Old Testament, which speaks of Jesus; birth; ministry; death and resurrection and role in the church.

During the week, Pray that:

1. That we and our church family will respond to God with love, with prayers, with worship and with adoration.

2.That we look to Jesus to bring us into favour with God.

3. That we will stay connected to Jesus (God the Son), like the branches connected to the vine. (John 15: 1-5)

4. That we will pray God’s love will be upon you and members of your local church; and that we demonstrate His love to all those we meet.

5.That when people look at us, they will see Jesus.

Bible reading: John 13: 31 -38; John 14: 1-31

Bible Verse: John 14 :9 (New Living Translation)

Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show Him to you?”
