Dream Big and Aim High

How many of you know the story of Bob, the man with a dream as big as the sky? Since he was a small boy, Bob had always dreamed of being an astronaut. He’d have the thoughts in his head all day every day, and it was all he could talk about. Anyone who asked of Bob what he wanted to do when he was older, Bob would reply “be an astronaut”, to which, many would chuckle at the little boy’s wild dream. The problem was, Bob was terrified of heights. How could a small boy with such a fear, ever have the ability to sour thousands of miles into the sky? The dream was way bigger than Bob, everyone thought. But that didn't stop him! As soon as Bob was old enough, he signed up for a local space camp, determined to conquer his fear.

On the first day, Bob climbed into the simulator, which was designed to mimic the feeling of being in space. As the simulator started, Bob's eyes widened, and he clung to his seat. "Houston, we have a problem," he muttered. The instructor, trying to encourage him, said, "Bob, just imagine you're floating among the stars!" "I'd rather imagine I'm floating in a bathtub!" Bob replied. But despite his fear, Bob persevered. He faced each challenge with a sense of humour and utter determination, and by the end of the 8-week camp, Bob hadn't quite yet made it to space, but he had completely conquered his fear of heights. Bob realised that sometimes, dreaming big means taking small steps, while finding joy in the journey.

God has placed within each of us the ability to dream big and aim high. He has wonderful plans for all our lives, plans that exceed our wildest imaginations and when we align our dreams with His will, we can achieve great things for His glory. Consider the story of Joseph. Despite facing numerous challenges, Joseph held onto his God-given dreams, dreams that were big and, in his situation, big dreams beyond his means, big dreams that made no sense and seemed impossible. But Joseph’s journey from the pit to the palace is a testament to the absolute power of dreaming big and trusting in God's plan.

In this time of fasting, consider how God has called you to dream big and aim high. Consider how He wants you to trust that He will guide your steps, when you acknowledge Him in your dreams. Like Bob, we may face fears and obstacles along the way, but with faith, determination and a sense of joy, we can overcome each and every one of them. Remember, God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, and that His plans for us are perfect, to give us hope and a future. So, dream big, aim high, and trust in His plan for your life.

God Bless You.
