Accepting Discipline

According to a dictionary, ‘discipline’ is, “the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behaviour, using punishment to correct disobedience.”

We know that God accepts us as His son or daughter, when we accept his chastisement; correction; or discipline, because He is our Heavenly Father, and He loves us so much. God wants us to understand that His discipline will help us to live as a citizen of the kingdom of God by:

- Following His instructions, which will enable you to live right.

- Following His instructions will enable you to increase in knowledge.

- Accepting God’s discipline and instructions will increase your level of wisdom.

- If you want to have a position of authority as a citizen of God’s kingdom, you are required to be disciplined by His word and work diligently via the help of the Holy Spirit. You need to read and learn God’s word; to get the knowledge, and to know what areas He has called you to be disciplined in. Nobody who has committed their life to Jesus can you an excuse, not to cultivate the peg of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, called ‘self-control’. (self-discipline) It means that you may not ‘feel’ like doing certain things. Self-discipline means doing what needs to be done, every day, regardless of how you feel.

- God desires that parents train up their child in the way he or she should go. He desires that parents take the time to love, teach, discipline, and correct their child so that when he/she becomes an adult, they will also have a healthy relationship with their creator-God, through Jesus and will stick with God’s Kingdom principles and life style.
