God’s Truth
There is a particular movie that I enjoy watching for a specific reason, I love the way an army of three hundred trained warriors use their shields. As their enemy comes at them with fiery arrows (or anything else they can throw at them) they are able to move as one unit, and protect each other from above and around themselves, using their heavy, resilient shield. A shield is a particular piece or armour, carried on the arm. It is used to protect the body from blows or missiles. You will find that the soldiers and police of the twenty first century still use a shield as part of their protective equipment.
In the Holy Bible, the anonymous writer of Psalm 91, had knowledge of the use of a shield, and includes it in verse 4. He knew that God’s truth would be his shield. God’s truth would protect his spirit first and consequently, his physical body. God’s truth will do the same for you in the twenty first century. When negative thoughts from the past or present, try to pierce you spirit, you can hold up your shield of truth for protection. God’s truth can shield you, your family members, friends and anyone or anything else, you apply it to.
What is God’s truth? Well God’s word is not dependant on anything else. God’s truth is absolute, whether people choose to believe it or not. God’s truth cannot contradict itself. It is coherent; that is, logical and consistent. God’s truth is universal. It applies equally to every person and everything. Therefore, no one can escape it. God’s truth is exclusive. Both the physical and the spiritual worlds reflect the exclusive nature of God’s truth. (Romans 1:20)
God’s truth is objective. God’s truth is independent of a person’s thoughts or perceptions. God’s truth is not subject to man’s (or woman’s) control, determination, or veto (having the official power to cancel a proposal) Yes, the Holy Bible is printed in different languages and formats (for examples King James Version; New King James version; Life Application; NIV; Gideon Bible) but the fact is, God’s truth still stands objectively, independently, coherently, exclusively, consistently, and universally.
In His prayer for His disciples, Jesus asks God to “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17: 17)
During your Prayer and Fasting Devotion this week:
• Pray that God will sanctify (Set apart) you and your church family by His truth.
• Pray that you and your church family, will spend quality time reading God’s Word, to know
what His truth is.
• Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to skilfully use God’s truth as your shield, to shield
yourself, family, church family and others, as He leads.
