Members Of God’s Household
“A family is a group of two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live together; all such related persons are considered as members of one family.” (www.hrsa.gov,hill- burton) God loves family. He made sure that the first people on earth, formed a family. We know them as Adam and Eve. God not only created the family, but encouraged and blessed them, to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. (Genesis 1:28) In the twenty-first century, there are many types of families. There is the:
• traditional/nuclear family which consists of two parents (married/common-law) and one child or more children.
• Single parent families
• Extended families (families that include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, all living close
by, or in the same home.)
• Adoptive families
• Foster families
• Families where children are raised by other relatives/grandparents/godparents/
stepparents.
• Families headed by two unmarried partners (opposite or same sex)
No matter what family we were born into, in which ever country, God considers us as a part of His family; when we make a conscious decision to give our heart and life to Him. How do you do this? By accepting what Jesus as your Lord; accepting His forgiveness of your sins or the life you have been living without Him; and asking Christ Jesus to be in you and with you, as, He saves you/us by His grace. (Ephesians 2:4 -9)
During your prayer and fasting, pray:
• For your family
• For the family of God
• Pray that the members of God’s family will unite through His love.
• Pray that as family members, we learn to forgive each other, as God forgives us.
• Pray that we will encourage each other and help each other to grow in God’s family.
• Ask God to bring in new family members by giving us the courage to be witnesses of Him, by
our life style in our community and society.
• Pray that God will help us to welcome those outside of God’s family, in.
