Take the Limits off!

I can’t remember how old I was when I had my first lesson in how to use a pressure cooker. I just remember always being fascinated by how a meal that would usually take what seemed like an entire afternoon to cook, could be completed in just over an hour! So, I was excited to be finally given the culinary skill in using this amazing cooking device.

So how does it work? Well, the pressure cooker is a sealed pot with a valve at the top that controls the pressure of the steam inside the pot. So, as the pot gets hotter, the liquid inside it gets hotter and hotter, which then raises the amount of pressure inside the pot. This high-pressure steam raises the boiling point of the water inside to as high as 250F, forcing heated liquid into the food, causing it to cook faster, and making even the toughest meats get very tender, very quickly.

But the impressiveness isn’t in the pressure inside the pot….it’s in what is produced when that pressure is released, when all of the steam, which has reached its absolute heated limit, has been set free. It’s in what we are provided with when that limit has been removed. Perfectly cooked, tender meat, ready to be served, ready to be enjoyed. Wonderful right?!

So, imagine the blessings that can be ours if we take that limit off our Heavenly Father. He’s over full of blessing, and purpose, and direction, and anointing, and power, and ministry, and gifts, and wisdom, and joy, and peace, and restoration and miracles and forgiveness, and provision, and hope and……His list is endless. But how often do we keep the lid on His many promises, all waiting to burst forth, but held within His eternal pot. How often do we remain in our own understanding and our own will, slowly waiting for our personal pot to reach maturity. Only to produce half cooked blessings, bad tasting circumstances or even a spirit contaminating life?

Isaiah 54:2-4 tells us to Enlarge our houses; build an addition. To spread out our home and spare no expense! Because we will soon be bursting at the seams! That our descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities!! In other words, take the limits off our current existence, by taking the limits off our everlasting God.

In this time of fasting, lay down your own understanding, and look to God. Let go of you, and let God be Him. Take the limit off Him and allow Him to release all that is within Him for you. Take the limit off….take your seat at His table and allow Him to say…”your meal is served”.
