Be an Ambassador of Hope
When we make a conscious decision to be a disciple of Jesus the Christ, through repentance, water baptism, and baptism of the Holy Spirit, we become ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 2 : 8- 13 explains that we were without hope, until Jesus came and gave us hope.
An ambassador can be described in two ways. Firstly, an ambassador is a diplomat who represents the king/President of a country, in another country he or she has been sent to.
An ambassador is also a person who is a great representative/promoter of a specific activity. (Oxford Languages Dictionary.)
There is a chorus that Christians of the 20th century would sing, over and over again. The words are: Try, try, try, try Jesus! Try, try, try, try, Jesus! Well, if you’ve tried everything, and everything’s failed, try Jesus! These words would encourage the singers and the people listening, not to lose hope, but try Jesus. How often do we go to Jesus after we have tried others, or our own plans, which left us disappointed ashamed, guilty, or hurt when things didn’t turn out the way we wanted them to?
King David was in his more mature age when he wrote Psalm 71. Having experienced many things, including having to hide away from his enemies until God gave him the victory, King David knew who his hope was. There were moments in David’s life when he felt depressed/ cast down because of the situations he found himself in. (Psalm 31: 9 –24) But he never lost hope. He may even be considered as an ‘ambassador of hope,’ because he was a great promotor of ‘hope.’ Hope is described as a feeling of expectation, desire, ad trust, for particular thing to happen.
Jesus was the greatest ambassador of hope, along with David, but there are many more examples of people who promoted hope to others. Although Jonah hoped that God would destroy Nineveh, the LORD did not share the same opinion. When Jonah warned them, they repented started to live for God.
How can you be an ambassador of hope, in your family, community, country or nation?
Ask the Lord and Holy Spirit to inspire you and give you the courage to spread hope to others. Tell others of how you found hope in Jesus, and how that hope keeps you motivated in life.
